What can be done to increase your immune system's effectiveness?

The human body consists of trillions of cells. Each cell is responsible for creating organs and tissues with specific functions. One cell is replaced by another when it dies. Cells communicate with one another using chemical signals called hormonal hormones. Hormones regulate all bodily functions from growth and developmental to metabolism and immunity.

Hormones are chemicals secreted by glands throughout the body. They travel through the blood stream and act like messengers to control how our bodies function. Some hormones are produced within the body while others are externally manufactured.

Hormone production begins when a hormone-producing gland releases its contents into the bloodstream. Once hormones have been released, they travel through the body until reaching their target organ. Sometimes hormones stay active for only a short time. Others hormones remain active longer and still have an influence on the body's functioning long after they leave bloodstream.

Some hormones are produced in large quantities. Others are only produced in very small quantities.
